New Church started in Gothenburg, Sweden

RCCG Overcomers Parish

On Sunday November 7, the Redeemed Christian Church of God officially welcomed a new parish in the outskirts of Gothenburg Sweden. The church, Overcomers Parish, is led by Pastor & Mrs Sunday & Grace Abanishe and they started to hold their first services in March this year.

What was striking to me, as I was invited to their inauguration service, was the good relationship the church had already created with those around them.

Apart from the invited guest speakers from Holland, Pastor Adebisi Omishakin, and from Denmark, Pastor Ade Olusola, the church building was filled with people from the area. Members from the local church, whose building they are renting, were there to support and help and I think many locals stopped by to see what was going on as well.

There was a singing group, "Joy creators" ("Glädjeskaparna"), who had a name that really suited them as they were spreading joy through their songs and stage presence!

I had also been invited to minister through song, and we were all praising God together – both in Yoruba, Igbo, English and Swedish.

Before the end of the service the first baby born in the new church was being blessed, and afterwards everyone shared delicious African food and the church birthday cake together.

The evening was a blessing, I believe not only to our team from Kingdom Center but also to everyone else attending – and we pray God will continue to bless and prosper this new church and all its ministers!
