The atmosphere and expectations were high when people gathered in Escalon's Cowboy Church. The evening began with great fellowship around the food and everyone singing Christmas Carols. Then bishop Coy Huffman invited pastor Chris Segerliv to share a word.

Every year the organization Forever Cowboys is arranging a world-class church service during the World Championship in Rodeo, Las Vegas. This year the meeting was held in MGM, one of the big hotels in Las Vegas. The event is very popular among the cowboys that are competing during the championship and a lot of people came for the service.

Twelve years ago, Ted and Linda started a ministry to serve the cowboys in the rodeo world. On many of the big rodeos they put up a big hospitality tent where they serve good food, good atmosphere and an encouraging word for them all. After the rodeos the cowboys are using the tent for Bible studies and fellowship. Through their ministry they have a great impact in the rodeo world and are reaching thousands of people.

A team from Kingdom Center arrived to Robert & Carolyn Steidley's ranch and Carolyn, who is the pastor of The Glory Riders and Manger Ministries, welcomed them. Many people had already gathered in the barn for Christmas celebration. Outside the barn the campfire was burning and the horses were saddled and stood waiting in the arena.

Top ranked bullrider Bobby Welsh is bringing the message of Jesus Christ to the rodeo arena and changes lives through preaching of God's word. He is competing at the National Finals Rodeo 2010 in Las Vegas.

After several years of hearing stories about the different cowboy churches in America, I got the chance to visit one today, together with a team from Kingdom Center in Sweden. We went to "Cowboy Church of Ellis County" - a cowboy church south of Dallas that has grown rapidly from a few hundred to 3 000 members in just a few years. One of the tools they use to reach out to people is a weekly bullriding competition and they have seen many people give their lives to Jesus for the first time on these events.
